Thew shop itself is in a picturesque part of town next to a bridge across the river. It's small, but they offer free samples of most of the tea they sell. As per any place outside of the main tourist traps, don't expect that anyone can speak English. Why only three stars? The way they brew the tea is very unusual. Even the very expensive teas tasted brackish, like they were brewed with seawater, or had nori added to them. This is not normal for Japan or even for Uji, for what I could tell. I bought some tea anyway, and when I brewed it, it tasted very good, like what I would expect a high-end tea to taste like. Very good, with delicate flavors, and not a hint of salinity. So, go there to buy tea, but drink it somewhere else.

The tea prices range from affordable low end teas to expensive high end teas. If you are in Uji, you will most likely stumble across this store and it is definitely worth visiting.
